Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday described the Monsoon Session of Parliament as a “celebration of victory,” highlighting India’s recent accomplishments in defence and space, particularly the successful execution of Operation Sindoor, which he said showcased the might of the “Made in India” military power.
Addressing media ahead of the session’s commencement, PM Modi praised the Indian armed forces for their swift and decisive action in Operation Sindoor, asserting that the mission achieved its targets “100 per cent” and destroyed terrorist strongholds in just 22 minutes.
“The whole world has seen the strength of India’s military power. The target set by the Indian Army in Operation Sindoor was achieved 100%. The world is increasingly drawn to India’s indigenous military capabilities,” the Prime Minister said.
He also emphasized global admiration for India’s homegrown defence manufacturing and the increasing international interest in Made in India weapons.
PM Modi additionally celebrated Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla’s historic achievement of piloting the Axiom 4 mission to the ISS, marking the first time the Indian tricolour was hoisted in space, calling it a proud moment for the nation.
“This successful journey is instilling new enthusiasm in the country for science, technology, and innovation,” Modi said, urging all parties to join in the national celebration of pride and achievement.
He added that when Parliament stands united in honouring these milestones, it not only boosts morale of the armed forces but also stimulates innovation, research, and manufacturing in the defence sector—creating employment opportunities for the youth.
As the Monsoon Session kicks off, PM Modi expressed optimism about the ongoing favourable monsoon and its positive impact on agriculture and the rural economy.
Meanwhile, the government is expected to introduce several important bills during this session, even as the Opposition INDIA bloc prepares to raise issues including the Pahalgam terror attack, Operation Sindoor, the Bihar Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, and the AI 171 aircraft crash.
The session will run until August 21, with a recess from August 12 to 18, covering a total of 21 sittings over 32 days.
